There is an Australia that exists somewhere between the postcard and everyday life.
It's salty hair and sandy feet. Cockatoos making far too much noise. Barefoot children, ferry rides, sandstone streets, afternoon swims and that particular Sydney blue when the sky seems impossibly clear.
It's colourful, a little wild and rarely too serious.
That's the Australia behind DK+L Originals.
Born of Sun & Sea is our way of capturing it.
Between bush, bay and city
Our designs begin with the places around us.
Bundeena sits between the bushland of the Royal National Park and the water, where beaches, native wildlife and childhood adventures provide an endless source of ideas. Then there is Sydney — energetic, colourful and unmistakably urban.
We love the contrast.
Bush and city.
Sand and sandstone.
Bare feet and dressed-up nights.
Wildlife and street life.
For us, Australian design doesn't have to choose between them. They're all part of the same story.
An Australia we recognise
Australian imagery has often been treated as something to put on a souvenir.
We see it differently.
A cockatoo can belong on a beautifully cut sweatshirt. A koala can become jewellery. Sydney can be worn across a T-shirt simply because you love the city.
Our wildlife, landscapes, humour and cultural quirks are extraordinary design material. We want to play with them, reinterpret them and make them feel relevant to the way we live now.

Made for little adventures — and bigger ones too
Childhood is at the heart of DK+L Originals.
The best Australian childhoods are rarely perfectly tidy. They're spent outside — exploring rock pools, climbing things, collecting shells, spotting animals, getting dirty and coming home tired.
That sense of freedom finds its way into our children's collections through colour, natural fibres, playful illustration and pieces designed for real life.
But DK+L has grown with us.
Our world now stretches beyond children's clothing into womenswear, menswear, jewellery, artwork and objects for the home — connected by the same sense of place.
From Sydney, with love
Our home in The Rocks brings those worlds together.
Just moments from Sydney Harbour, old sandstone buildings sit beside one of the most recognisable cityscapes in the world. People wander in from Sydney and from much further away, often looking for something that feels connected to this place.
We love the idea that something designed here can travel home with them.
A sweatshirt worn years later. A piece of jewellery that brings back a particular afternoon. A gift given to someone on the other side of the world.
Objects become memories.
And perhaps that's what we're really designing.
Not simply Australian things, but pieces of Australian life.
